Fabulous Devotional

Posted : 1 year, 7 months ago on 13 November 2006 08:43 (A review of Renewed Day by Day)

Authored by Aiden Wilson "A.W." Tozer, I recommend this to anyone who wants to learn the Bible and apply it to everyday life.

The daily sections/aspect is not overwhelming and easily understood. I love Tozer's forthright manner and scripture which makes the devotionals timeless, really. For any new Christian or someone who would like to learn about what a Christian really is (follower of Christ), beyond the corporate mentality, this is an invaluable teaching tool for the individual who is pursuing God.

Classic

Posted : 1 year, 7 months ago on 12 November 2006 06:17 (A review of The Original Quartet With Chet Baker [2-CD SET])

These are timeless, sweet, smooth, soul of jazz. Five Brothers is fabulously swinging and most cuts are also featured in a live or alternate version (10in LP or 12in LP). The occasional crackling from the original LP record recordings was a bit distracting at first but ads to the sound..never losing their authenticity and perfection. This two disc set is a must for a modern jazz lover.

Bellydance to your hearts content

Posted : 1 year, 7 months ago on 12 November 2006 06:08 (A review of Arabesque)

I LOVE this album, great beats and world sound. You can't hold still listening to this one. If you belly dance, it's a must have.

fabulous music

Posted : 1 year, 7 months ago on 12 November 2006 06:06 (A review of Keith Green The Ministry Years Volume 1)

I saw him in concert back in 79. He was fabulous, of course. His music is still touching, a bit dated but the heart and soul is very much alive. I've been blessed by his music.

Mixed

Posted : 1 year, 7 months ago on 12 November 2006 06:04 (A review of I Feel Bad About My Neck: And Other Thoughts on Being a Woman)

I liked this book and yet, I was struck about the negativity she gave off at times. It was comical, a bit rambling, yet I could relate to some things, albeit her view as a well-to do author made me want to say, "oh brother, get over it!". I expected more humor, life lessons and less whiny banter.

Possibly her seemingly high brow point of view reminded me of a narcissistic sibling of mine so my view is tainted..the jury is still out on this one, perhaps until I read it again.

Throwing out the magazines

Posted : 1 year, 8 months ago on 8 October 2006 11:48 (A review of Cooking Light 2006 Annual Recipes (Cooking Light Annual Recipes))

This is really worth the money to have everything indexed and bound in one handy book. The recipes are indexed by name and by season (which is helpful when you are in 97 degree heat and not quiet feeling like standing behind your stove for an hour).

The meals are easy to put together, healthy and tasty at that. Winning combination.

Companion to this movie

Posted : 1 year, 9 months ago on 24 September 2006 08:43 (A review of Flags of Our Fathers)

The Japanese point of view is portrayed in a movie also directed by Clint Eastwood. It is called "Letters From Iwo Jima" and also known as "Black Sand, Red Sun".

The Brave. This is their best album. Good to run miles on end with this in your ear.

best Christmas album

Posted : 1 year, 11 months ago on 5 August 2006 08:32 (A review of A Christmas Song)

This fabulous Christmas album is one you MUST have in your library. I never cease to have company ask me who it is and where they can buy it.

Russ Taff, with his trademark smoothness sings these classic Christmas songs in the big band/jazz style. This album never gets old and is played every Christmas that I've owned it.
